Washington D.C. 20008
Why: Today, we are calling our fellow Burmese and
concerned citizens around the world to join us.
We believe the 2008 constitution has justified impunity and guaranteed the
military to remain in power. The military regime’s 2010 election does not
comply with the international standards and prevents people from freely
exercising their fundamental rights and political freedom. We, the
pro-democracy activists around the world, must therefore stand up to:
- boycott against the unrepresentative 2008 constitution and undemocratic
election scheduled to take place in Burma on November 7, 2010.
- reject the fraudulent election results and the unconstitutional
government.
Our country’s faith is undeniably in our hands – individually and together.
Let us put aside our political differences in the beliefs or ethnicities,
and call for everyone, for the sake of the voiceless and oppressed people
inside Burma and our country’s future, to wake up and fight for freedom from
tyranny.
Let us band together to call for a global action against the junta’s
election, starting from October 29 till November 7. Do not let freedom
perish in our time!
